Dragons of Eternity, the third book in the Dragonlance Destinies Trilogy and written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, will be published on August 6, 2024. In the first two books, Destina Rosethorn is a daughter of a Knight of Solamnia who died during the War of the Lance. She wanted to obtain the Device of Time Journeying from Tasslehoff Burrfoot to travel back in time to save her father. Along her adventure she also obtained the Graygem of Gargath. Her use of the Device of Time Journeying clashed with the Graygem’s chaos magic and she along with Raistlin, Sturm, and Tasslehoff inadvertently traveled back in time to the Third Dragon War where they met famed heroes Huma and Magius. The Graygem’s chaos magic caused havoc that changed the course of history. Now Destina is back in present time but with history changed she and the companions must race to correct the River of Time before it becomes permanent.

I am very excited for Dragons of Eternity because of how Dragons of Fate ended. Without spoilers, I was floored by what exactly happened that changed the course of history. My jaw dropped in that moment. Kudos to Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman for great storytelling and an unexpected twist that had me hanging on the edge of my seat. It took me awhile to warm up the the new character Destina Rosethorn but now I can’t wait to see how this trilogy ends.
